Zero, O: Tentoonstelling Nul

This collage-based poster is constructed from newspaper clippings and layered text, focusing on artists associated with the Zero movement such as Fontana, Kusama, and Castellani. The use of found materials gives the design an archival and experimental quality, as if it has been assembled from fragments of history and documentation. This approach reflects the spirit of the Zero movement itself, which often explored ideas of reduction, repetition, and new beginnings.

What I found most engaging about this design is the sense of organised chaos. At first glance, the composition feels dense and overwhelming, with overlapping textures, varied type styles, and scattered imagery. However, on closer inspection, there is a clear structure guiding the layout. Repetition of shapes, alignment of text blocks, and careful spacing help to create balance within the complexity.

I was particularly drawn to the ornate organisation of the elements. Despite the fragmented appearance, every piece feels intentionally placed, contributing to a cohesive whole. The limited colour palette also helps unify the design, allowing the focus to remain on composition and form. Overall, the poster successfully combines experimentation with control, resulting in a visually rich and conceptually strong piece.
